90210- O Holly Night

"Strong Women Stick Together"

Whats with all these seasonal shows being cryptic and painful for those involved? Christmas is suppose to be a happy time not depressing.
Well Naomi seemed to have pulled herself together... Actually a little too much. After accepting an internship she found out she was working for Holly's mom. Nothing big right? It is when Holly is your enemy slash new found friend. As Naomi's first assignment she had to work Holly's birthday party without Holly finding out she was the one who took the intern spot away from her. Well that kind of blew up in her face. Honestly at this point and in this episode I could care less. I know Naomi just wanted to best for herself and everybody around her but treating your boyfriend who you fought so hard for like shit is not the way to have a good relationship. And we have learned through all her past bf's that Naomi sucks at this dating thing. And when Holly confronted her about everything, girl had a point. Naomi came in and took everything from her... Her boyfriend, sorority status, her intern position, and now her mothers affection. Low Blow. I guess walking in on you frenemy sleeping with your boyfriend is harsh enough payback though. Merry Christmas....!
Navid was playing with fire and he got burned. Why is he only working with one undercover cop? Is there nobody else that could help him out? He goes on these risky missions, asks all skeptical and then the cop left him alone with a bunch of stolen merchandise. When I saw his face in the hospital I actually cringed. Boy got beat up hardcore. And despite everything he was doing everything to protect Silver. One thing this show has made me realize is that girls always walk in at the wrong time and see something, blow it out of proportion, make up some crazy story in their heads, and think that if the guy is lyings its because he's cheating. Maybe he really is just doing this in your benefit Silver, as he repeated told you over and over again! Either way Silvers been dating some literature professor, who was also keeping a secret from her. The secret he has a wife (soon to be ex) and a daughter, and he quickly decided he wanted to be seriously involved with Silver. As she went to check up on Navid in the hospital she saw him with the cop and again ASSUMED and went to the teacher and told him she wanted to become legit. And thats what I call bad timing and a lack of communication. Who cares if theres another girl in there? You loved Navid at least care enough to see if he is ok after his near brush with death. And aren't you curious as to who beat him up??? Gosh.
Dixon is apparently healthy and good to go- kicked his drug addiction and seriously in love with Adriana. After this weeks episode I kind of have more sympathy towards Ade. The ending especially with her baby story and music experience gave us an insight into an Ade that we didn't really know. Last season she never cared about her baby she was just all wrapped up in fame and money. Good to know she's been brought down to earth. Her and Dixon are probably the most peaceful couple on the show at this point.
I feel bad for Annie. She is struggling to make ends meet after helping out her brother (who doesn't seem to care at all). She's dealing with the whole Jeremy situation as he scammed her out of money. And I'm sure she doesn't feel good about herself being a Wh*re cause lets face it she's definitely not an escort. After finding comfort in Liam she felt even worse about herself than before. Once Liam figured out what was going on he took matters into his own hands. I'm really glad someone finally put Patrick in his place. As for Annie, sneaking into Jeremy's house was a little much, but girls got brains and she got herself out of that with evidence and a guarantee to the money! But just as things start going good- heres that bad timing again. She calls Liam to tell him she never stopped loving him and wishing him a Merry Christmas and BAM Liam is in a hit and run accident with a motorist (conveniently Lexi from the Vampire Diaries ha) and it doesn't look like he is going to make it out alive. See thats the thing about fate, it sucks. Its timing sucks and its never on our side. The minute someone figures it out its too late. The ending was very well done though. It was bittersweet. She's spilling her guts, this guy might be dead, and theres Christmas music playing. Every emotion I could have possibly felt I did.

Gossip Girl- Riding In Town Cars With Boys

"Do you think you could ever love another mans child?"

Who should never doubt Gossip Girl and its writers again? Me. I clearly underestimated them and everything they were doing with this whole story line because by the end of Monday's episode I was left speechless, in tears, and holy crap confused! I'll start with the minor stories and build my way up.

Dan Humphrey a hero. I always knew lonely boy was an honest true man. After his book got picked up again he had to write an alter- ending. Serena suggested why not write about where everybody is now. That got them all thinking about how their lives have transformed and where they want to be as people. Dan decided to be a helping hand to Blair, only because he wanted to tell her how he really feels. In the end though he saw her heartbreak after Chuck couldn't cross a line and be her fathers baby, so he snuck Blair out and brought her over to the Van der Woodsen's were Charlie was having a "welcome" party so to speak and arranged a secret meeting for the love-birds. Finally.
Charlie was just trampled in this 'who am I' mess and it took a huge accident to wake her up from her delusions. After Max threatened to expose her, saw that he couldn't sell his story to Nate, he took it up with Tripp Archibald (who had his own agenda in this episode consisting of family drama, family favoritism, sabotage, and politics) who planned to- and heres were I take a guess and hope I don't come off like an asshole- have Nate crash in an accident in order to prevent him from going on the trip with his grandfather? I feel like I am missing a piece of the puzzle because I don't really understand why Max would want Nate to crash? Why would this help him get back at Charlie? I mean I understand by damaging the car he finally got the money he wanted but was it really all necessary? I feel like there must be more to this. Anyways Charlie took the first step and admitted to Rufus (and lets clap cause Rufus was actually present in this episode for more than morning pancakes) that she is the one thats a fraud. Is she going to run away and hide forever? Will she come clean. I assume coming clean could be potentially dangerous, and if she does that she is exposing Carol.
Which brings me to my short summary of Nate finding out that the whole Tripp's wife is cheating scandal was thanks to his grandfather, who was behind it all. But Grandfather confessed and all was well. Tripp was bitter because grandfather gave up on him and pushing his career to the limit and is now concentrating on Nate so he decided to use Max to his advantage and what harm Nate? Honestly, the Van der Woodsens might be messed up but at least their not homicidal and what not. Props for Nate though for being the stand up, all around good guy in this show. He really stepped up in the last couple of episodes and if I had any say in things I would just have him be in a suit every episode.
Serena.... Besides the fact that she looked exceptionally gorgeous today is she really heading down the Humphrey road again? I mean I understand their not really related.. but close enough. I just feel like the writers have built the Dan/ Serena relationship as so platonic that seeing them as that romantically cute and sexual couple from season 1 is just odd. I guess she is starting to realize that she has made no progress compared to all of her friends and is leaning on the fact that Dan was the best thing that ever happened to her? I am iffy on this storyline... but am really enjoying the fact that Serena is motivated to bring Gossip Girl down. Go get em' girl.
Saved the best for last! Chuck and Blair have been carrying this show throughout the whole season. I'm ashamed to admit that I might even watch it every week because I am obsessed with their relationship. After fighting an internal battle with herself Blair avoids seeing Louie because she is not ready to commit to him "forever." After realizing that she wants to be with Chuck she calls him to see if he could ever love another mans baby. He tells her that she should be with the dad and she is completely heartbroken. He doesn't realize his mistake in judgement until he speaks to Lily who tells him that if he ever needs anything she's there for him because she loves him unconditionally. "You may be my child only through marriage but I love you like my own." Those words hit home to Chuck and he suddenly realized that he is the guy for Blair. After he ditches Louie (god knows where) Dan leads him into a room with Blair where Chuck confesses his love for her and promises he will love her baby just as much. They are then tipped off that the paparazzi are around the house and Nate leads them through the back into their limo. Little do they know they get into the wrong limo's and Chuck and Blair get into the one that has been tampered with. As they start on their journey the happy couple is kissing in the backseat (As they have done since season one :)) and planning their futures and paparazzi swarm around them violently on motorcycles. In the blink of an eye, they crash into the forest or whatever and are rushed to the E.R. Lily is informed that Blair is doing well (no word on the baby) but Chuck isn't... Nothing was really revealed by that except Lily started crying and so did I.
They cant have Chuck die can they? Blair will never marry Louie. And in the next years previews we see Blair praying that Chuck doesn't die. What did you think of the midseason finale? Is everyone satisfied that Blair and Chuck FINALLY admitted their feelings? It breaks my heart that it was taken away so soon though. And finally to conclude my post... What the hell does Diana have to do with JACK BASS and Nate's grandfather? I mean I understand she was connected to the Bass family somehow but how and why and Jack? Could this really be Chuck's mother? AHHH I WANT TO KNOW!

Memorable Quotes

  • Gossip Girl: Apololigies have been made and the security breach fixed, but 2 weeks later and still not one tip. Apparently no one can hold a grudge like an Upper East Sider and no one can lie like one either.
  • Rufus: That young man had a lot of problems
    • Dan: No wonder that Serena was so into him.
  • Dan: I have no idea what to write. I'm starting to understand the appeal of heroine or womanizing or whatever it is that writers do when they write.
  • Chuck: It's a bold move Nathaniel. I'm aroused.
  • Chuck: These stories are invented to sell papers to women that collect ceramic cats.
  • Dorota: Same thing happening to me pregnancy fingers swell up like kielbasas.
  • Dorota: Say it like magic spell bibbitty bobbitty boo I will never leave you. Poof. Louie will feel safe again and you'll live happily ever after.
  • Serena: Seeing where our characters ended made us realize exactly where we didn't want to be.
  • Blair: I plan on having my child the old fashioned way... Fully Sedated.
  • Blair: Princesses don't go to queens.
    • Dorota: Need to marry Louie to be princess.
  • Gossip Girl: I guess its time for me to accept that if you want something badly enough you have to go out and get it yourself. Watch out kids the end of me might just turn out to be the end of one of you.
  • Blair: I haven't even spoken to Chuck
    • Dan: You dont have to. You two have some strange forcefield effect on each other. A physicist should study it.
  • Chuck: I can't imagine it would be a mistake to marry the father of your child right?
  • Serena: Telling her your feelings is not going to change your ending its going to mess with hers.
  • Charlie: If you deserve to be that person then own it and never look back.
  • Blair: Apparently there are some risks even Chuck Bass isnt willing to take.
  • Gossip Girl: Sorry boys but didnt you know that if you wait too long to seize the day the one you want can get away.
  • Chuck: The us I should have fought for when you called. The us thats not just you and me but you, me and your baby.
    • Blair: Then why did you tell me to choose Louie?
    • C: I thought it was selfish if I was the one to tell you to break up your family.
    • B: That was the moment you chose not to be selfish?
    • C: Timing was never my strong suit. I had it all wrong. Just because Louie is the father of your baby does not mean you should be with him. You should be with me.
    • B: Why?
    • C: Cause I am going to love your baby as much as I love you.
  • Max: No actress wants to play the same role their entire life.
  • Max: How can their love be real when your a total fake.
  • Gossip Girl: We all like to think that were in the driver seat of our own lives. But the idea that we can control out fate is an illusion. You can choose the most loyal friends, the dream job, the truest love. But at the end of the day our fate is decided for us. All we can do is hope we have the strength to cope with the hand she deals us.
SEE YOU MY FELLOW GOSSIPERS IN 2012!!!!

Ringer- That's What You Get For Trying To Kill Me

"Why do all roads lead back to Siobhan Martin?"

The midseason finale of Ringer killed it... or should I say killed everyone. Let me just jump right into my review- theres way to much to say.

The relationship between Andrew and Siobhan (Bridget) has got to be the cutest thing ever. Andrew deserves love after being married to a cold heartless bitch for six years. Bridget definitely deserves love after everything she has went through. Sure the fact that he can afford a 200 thousand ring helps the relationship prosper but it really is about the small things like the rose petals and candles. It's a side of Andrew we never saw before. When he was with the real Siobhan he was all work and no play and came off a little cold, Bridget relaxed him and opened him up a lot (honestly no pun intended).
Charlie is psychoooooooo! I've said it once and i'll say it again, you just cannot trust people so easily. Look how easy it was for Charlie to creep into everyones lives and manipulate them. After threatening to kill Jemma if he didn't get his money from Shiv he turned to an alternate source- Bridget. Demanding 250 thousand for Jemma's release she agreed. By telling Andrew about it I feel like they strengthened their relationship a whole lot. Who had to go and screw everything up? Henry of course. He really is useless and now, he can pat himself on the back since its all his fault his wife is dead. Since the cops showed up at the train station the exchange between Bridget and Charlie could not happen and Jemma ended up shot. Or at least we thought so until Charlie tried disposing of her body and she wasn't in the trunk. The girl is pretty kickass so it was sad to see her actually get shot after discovering the truth that would help resolve so many problems; Siobhan is actually alive.
I think the craziest story line in this episode had to have been Agent Machado and his partner or should I say "matador." I don't want to brag but I totally saw that storyline coming... It doesn't make it any more mysterious and intriguing though. Crazy how even people you think you know can turn their back on you. I guess thats the lesson in this show though, and each character must learn it for themselves. Obviously Agent Machado is the smartest guy on the police force so no worries he was onto his partner- he had his backup guys and now he will have more answers to fill in the missing blanks in his case. Sadly to say in this show, as probably in real life, the police really don't do much. They figure things out after the fact, and are corrupted by people working for people that paid them off. Ahhh

Siobhan also played a huge part in this episode and I am glad. The bitch is back in New York, black leather gloves and all! I wonder how that will play out. Two twins, one city I smell some trouble. Anyways she came back with one purpose and that was to kill Charlie. After she specifically told him NOT to kill Jemma, he went and killed Jemma. That kind of stuff doesn't fly with Mrs. Martin. Gotta give it to the girl she has really good aim. Right after that though she dropped a second bomb. She planted her pregnancy on Tyler, which means she now has her hook on him since her black eye shennanigans didn't work. You know say what you want about Siobhan but she is one dedicated crazy woman. For someone to give themselves a black eye that good... well that takes talent..
I'll briefly touch on Juliet, because she irks me almost as much as Dan Humphrey does. First off she's trying to get with the teacher, then he suddenly rapes her? Given my past experiences with this character I call BS! I think it's just little rich girl crying for attention after getting rejected by her father and her teacher. I could be mistaken though.. wonder where this story will take place. I guess the only way we will find out is by waiting till next year. Oh 2012 is going to stir up a whole lotta drama! Till next year Ringer fanatics ;)

Memorable Quotes

  • Juliet: Big sister's watching you
  • Shiv: My husband is an incredibly powerful man. He was never going to let me just walk away. I had to do something.
  • Bridget: Six years can you believe it??...... I'm going to go call the cops.
  • Shiv: She's my friend.
    • Charlie: I'd hate to see how you treat your enemies.
  • Henry: So what is he going to turn to be a mob boss? A serial killer? Al Quida?
  • Girl: See I don't have a choice, its called detention.
    • Teacher: Well the planet still thanks you.
  • Juliet: Bella married Edward when she was just a teenager and he's like 400
  • Bridget: How do I know I can trust you?
    • Charlie: You dont, but what choice do you have?
  • Charlie: Blame Siobhan.
    • Jemma: You mean Bridget?
    • C: No I mean Siobhan. The bitch is still alive.
  • Siobhan: You're a glorified babysitter that got way too expensive.
  • Tyler: Are you pregnant?
    • S: Yes
    • T: Is it mine?
    • S: Yes
  • Bridget: I thought with Charlie gone I would stop asking questions but I cant. Why was he after Siobhan? Why Jemma? This can't just be about money there has to be more to it.

Gossip Girl- Rhodes to Perdition

"I only want you to be happy, I'm just sorry it couldn't be with me"
Unfortunately, I did not review last weeks Gossip Girl. Never fear though because I did watch it and it was a great episode that lead us into one that I have waited for the entire season. I feel like the writers of GG finally got their umph back- and that might have a lot to do with getting rid of cougar Diana, but nonetheless this episode kept me on my toes from start to finish. And here is a song for you all. The song when Nate and Chuck talk. Also cause I loved Chucks green socks. haha  Yes the socks really did get me, but I must touch on this weeks fashion. Everything glittered and sparkled and caught my eye as every character looked spiffy and as if they just got off the runway, well except Dan, but if you care to notice I don't really mention him in this post mainly because his pity on himself makes me want to barf. Next.
Blair and Chuck how I love thee. No really, I am obsessed with these two. After last weeks bridal shower where Louie proved that he is really becoming the worst version of himself Blair saw a new sense of selflessness in Chuck. He really was becoming a good person. He didn't come to crash her party in mean spirits but rather to save Dan from making a complete ass out of himself and ruining Blairs party. While Louie was away in a third world country in this weeks episode Blair was on a mission to find out the real reason that Chuck had become good in hopes of converting Louie back into that kind-hearted prince she fell in love with. The therapy session, although hard on both parties, brought upon wonderful results. Blair finally heard the truth from Chuck about the engagement ring which made her believe that the reason every guy goes to the dark side is because she pushes them towards in. After she stormed off in tears Chuck came by to check on her (and I have to admit I melt everytime Mr. Bass walks through the door to see if she's ok). That 3 minute scene between both of them really tied up this season to all the previous ones. I have never seen a loved so pure and real portrayed on T.V. and it poses one question. Why the hell is Blair getting married to Louie?

Nate Archibald deserves a standing ovation. He has finally made a name for himself on Gossip Girl. After Diana got fired from the N.Y Spectator by grandfather, Nate took over the business as chief-editor. Archibald in tux, who could complain. Life ain't always easy on the Upper East Side though and his first story involved a cheating politicians wife. Common, yes, but not when it's your cousins wife. After meeting with (the one and only Tripp) Nate realizes that the couple faked an affair to get him re-elected. Instead of running the story against his family, he makes a bold ethical stand releasing a statement that the Spectator will report any story no matter if it is family oriented, personal, or not. Spectator 1- Gossip Girl 0.
Now we get down to the itty gritty of the Charlie/Ivy/Serena/Max/ Carol drama. Without going into too much depth because I would get lost just trying to explain this i'll be brief. Serena and Max started seeing each other low-key. Carol came back into town for the party in grandmothers honor, only because her and Ivy needed the money to pay off Max who was threatening to rat them out. After convincing Serena not to go on another date with Max, Serena called off the date only to overhear Lily and Carol fighting over the fact that Carol made Charlie call herself Ivy in order to avoid to Rhodes family curse. She concludes that Charlie is actually Max's ex-girlfriend and calls him over to the house where everyone pretty much confront each other. After grandma faints (she has some kind of sickness but I didn't really catch what it was) Charlie keeps her illness in secret from the family forming a sort of bond with her "grandmother." Max calls Carol and Ivy's bluff but they already came up with their own story and thankfully the family believes them and Max leaves. All is well in the Van der Woodsen household and I guess we could forget about Ivy because she is now officially Charlie Rhodes. To what extreme will Max go to make Charlie pay for ruining two years of his life? Do these people not use google or do background searches? If a story like this came up in my family I would honestly background search Ivy Dickens and Charlie Rhodes. And lastly, what did happen to the real Charlie Rhodes? Is she dead? Could we expect a surprise visit from her?
Also alluding to the preview for next week we can expect a Blair and Chuck limo kiss. Blair has to choose (and I say Chuck) and then an accident. Does Louie die? Okay I wont be cynical because I know there is definitely a wedding episode, but will Blair loose the baby? Will she finally realize Chuck is the man for her. If the wedding episode does not feature Chuck as the groom I am just boycotting this whole show. You've been warned.

Memorable Quotes

  • Chuck: I returned it because you asked me to let you go. I wanted to move on to give you the happy life you deserve.

  • Grandfather: I've always loved you but now I respect you too.
  • Chuck: You never pulled me to the dark side Blair. You were the lightest thing that ever came into my life.
    • Blair: Than why did it take letting me go to find this whole new side of yourself?

    • C: Cant imagine the day I won't.

Witches and Vampires- Then vs. Now. How the Media glorified these "evil creatures"

So  I had to write a paper for class about how the witches, vampire and werewolves have changed over centuries. How media has portrayed them to be human and good rather then evil. I think its a pretty good informative paper. Read if you dare. I know its lengthy but hey that just means I put thought into it :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Occults such as witches, dark magic, vampires, and werewolves have been a popular since the 15th century, but the way they have been perceived from generation to generation has changed drastically. Back in the day these mystical creatures were associated with the devil and punished severely for the crimes they “committed.” Nowadays the entertainment world has glamorized and sexualized these creatures turning them into a fad for the young generation. The simple reason behind the obsession is the idea of immortality. Previous generations shunned what they did not understand and associated the unknown with the presence of evil, while now the unknown is appealing to us and makes us crave it more.

During the Middle Ages, the Pagan religion created a link between Paganism and Satanism, assuming that any type of herbal healing was the practice of witchcraft. This assumption was born from the idea that evil created disease and poverty and if one could heal than they had to be calling upon the devil for power. This explanation was used to explain human misfortunes, usually blaming the women in the community. They were often poor, frail, old, unattractive, and widowed women, shunned away from society. The church made its followers believe that these women practiced witchcraft in the forests at night, had the ability to fly, plotted against the church and its people, and had sex with the devil. “Witches” were killed at the stake, usually burned alive, often times accused of heresy. The Bible pronouncement “Thou shall not suffer a witch to live” became very popular as the witch-hunts began in Germany. They soon reached America mainly in Salem, Connecticut where about 150 people were accused and 31 executed.

Vampires were more common in folk stories, but historical evidence of vampires merely focuses on examples of sudden death, usually of a citizen or livestock in unexplainable manners. Vampires were also blamed for mysterious diseases like Tuberculosis, which discolored the skin into a pale white color. Pagan stories explain that vampires were believed to be the spawn of a witch or products of dead witches. Werewolves were servants to the Devil and cursed by witches. Sometimes witches had the ability to transform into a wolf on a full moon. Similar to the witch-hunts, many countries participated in werewolf trials and burnings.

After the witch/werewolf hunts, witches appeared into fairy tales introducing the theme of good witch versus bad witch. In stories such as “Snow White” and “Sleeping Beauty” the witches were portrayed as ugly old hags with pointed noses and brooms. They would cast spells, fly, and make potions. In the 20
th century this concept was examined further in “The Wizard of Oz” introducing the good witch as beautiful and pure, using her magic for the good of others. This central theme applied to vampires as well. The 1897 novel “Dracula” transformed the image of the vampire from a repulsive human-like parasite that fed on mankind, to that of a mysterious, intelligent, wealthy, seductive, almost immortal creature that was vulnerable to the beauty and innocence of a woman. He was a tragic hero that longed for forbidden sex and possessed eternal life, while suffering from his blood-thirsty curse.

In the 21st century Hollywood adapted the trend of witches and vampires. The comedy “Bewitched” was followed with teen shows like “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and “Charmed.” These shows focused on powerful and good witches that protected the lives of innocent mortals. They used spells, fought demons, conjured potions, but also lived a human life, having boyfriends, going to school, etc. They were a huge deviation from the previous image of witches as they were young, skinny, beautiful, and personable.  The hit show “Buffy the vampire slayer” featured both vampires and witches. Buffy was a strong independent girl that fought the evil vampires, while her friend Willow practiced “harmless witchcraft” involving incantations, spell books, and the summoning of spirits. This was the first show that introduced a vampire with humanity—Buffy’s young and attractive love interest, conveniently named Angel. The show was popular with a lot of religious folks because it never presented evil in a good light but rather worked against evil and made the person that committed the crime suffer the consequence.

The trend of vampires and witches fizzled out a bit until the rise of the “Harry Potter” and “Twilight” series.  Harry Potter is a fictional story set in the wizarding world about a wizard who fights against the evil Lord. The series mainstreamed witchcraft and sorcery all over the world, translating the books and movies into 67 languages. Twilight on the other hand, introduced a new breed of vampire. As past vampires could only feel rage this new breed felt romantic love, could have sex, sparkled in the sunlight, fell in love and developed humanity because of it. This opened up the door to primetime shows like “True Blood” and “The Vampire Diaries.” In “The Vampire Diaries” the original witch created vampires and put a curse on werewolves, which ties back into the “history” of all these creatures. It mixes in past references with the new breed of vampires and witches to create a modern show that appeals to our generation.

The image of witches, vampires, and werewolves changed for the sake of entertainment. In the past people believed witches to be monsters and were scared of them, nowadays the monsters are more real; serial killers, terrorists, rapists, dictators. As a society, we enjoy seeing women that are powerful and independent and occasionally sexually dangerous, because it is intriguing, and we enjoy seeing men with a lot of power give up who they are because of love for a mortal.  These new “superheroes” are merely a projection of our imagination and provide us with some escape from everyday life problems. These characters are good-looking, eternally young, and have the ability to love; something we as a generation wish was possible.

Pop-culture has even found a way to make something as disgusting as sucking someone’s blood sexually appealing. Yes, it is a little disturbing, but a huge difference from the witch-hunts, werewolf hunts, and executions of innocent people. Although many shows still have the elements of witch-hunters and vampire-hunters today, we as humans get sucked into this alternate world and begin identifying with the vampires, witches and werewolves- definitely something we wouldn’t encounter 200 years ago. As the media glamorized and sexualized these creatures, the ideologies that were believed back in the day have been long forgotten. Today, we look for witches, vampires, and werewolves to solve our problems—and even though we know it’s all pretend, sometimes we really wish it wasn’t.

90210- A Thousand Words

"What they don't know can't hurt"
I thoroughly enjoy 90210 when it mixes some emotions (as unbelievable as they are) and some comedy. Its really no fun watching everyone live this perfect "Lets go to Vegas" life, so when things start going back for everybody I find some pleasure in it.... Evil I know. This episode had a central theme of "growing up" and "sacrifices." Seems like everybody want's to give the gang a feel for the real world outside of Beverly Hills High.
This week Naomi was a loner for a change. After screwing things up with Austin and his father last week seems like the couple hasn't made up. Looking for friends everywhere possible she finally forces Alana to hang out with her. As they go out for a night together, after playing charades that is, to Ivy's photography competition to score Alana the guy of her dreams Stanley. It was honest and pure watching her struggle to flirt and then it was even better watching the nerd fall for Naomi. This motivated her to admit all her faults as a girlfriend and as she waited at home to apologize to Alana she realized that in some weird twisted way she actually helps people. She sent off Alana on a date with some new hottie she met after she realized what a pig Stanley was and then proceeded to call Austin and in her Naomi Clark way, apologize. These are the kinds of moments I expect from 90210.
Annie is truly a troubled soul. After she found Dixon a rehab center she is forced to rake up about 10 thousand dollars for a deposit. She turns to Patrick for the money but then realizes that what she's doing is horrible and confronts him about his cheating in Vegas. His comeback? This is what the relationship is. Her hires escorts when he travels because he gets lonely but that's how he does relationships. A hurt Annie decides to storm out and sell all of the things her ever bought her (and there was a lot) online. In the end it turns out she only made about $2500 and has no choice but to go back to Patricks and apologize. It literally broke my heart when they showed her the next morning in bed and he left her a check for 10 grand. I mean damn she got the money but by selling her body. In my world we call that prostitution.....
Silver messed up... Big time. After sending Marissa the video of Teddy getting married, Marissa used that to her advantage and leaked the video causing her to win the campaign and in turn ruin Teddy's life. His whole family hates him, she outed him to the public, he blamed his boyfriend for it and then found out that in reality Silver was the one who leaked the tape. Thank God he has friends like Liam to take his mind off all his troubles by breaking into a race-track and seeking adventure... Only to get caught and arrested.... Liam on the other hand needs to stop. He's either happy by the fact that he can make money and be a legit model or quit it and stop nagging. It's an opportunity of a lifetime!!! And what made me so angry is that he complains about loosing his freedom to live his life. First of all it's not like he really did much to begin with. When have we ever seen Liam ride a bike, drive a race car, or even surf? He gave that up in like season 2. And this job can open up so many doors for him. Plus a little piece of advice, read your contract before signing anything.
The best news in this episode... RAJ HAS BEEN TREATED! Kind of saw that coming but it was still a moving moment. Finally after so much treatment it finally worked!!! But what is that going to mean for Raj and Ivy. She obviously has a crush on her photography teacher who we just learned is the photographer she is going to be traveling to New Guinea with (thanks to the photography contest that OBVIOUSLY Ivy won). Whatever I won't be a hater this was finally an Ivy episode. I think she smiled the whole time... and that's saying a lot for Debbie the Downer Ivy.
Apparently the drugs got Dixon bad which I don't really believe cause it seems awfully IMPOSSIBLE but sure. After telling Ade that he wants to be with her he flips out on Annie about how much he doesn't care about her only to have the two girls realize that he's still using. When Ade drops him off in rehab she lets him know that while he is there they cannot proceed with their relationship. She believes that the drugs made him say things he didn't really mean. It was sad to watch Dixon go down like that. He was one of the only characters on the show that was smart and motivated. To let it all slip away like that sucks. Overall the episode really made progress for a lot of characters and a lot of relationships, for better or worse. One person we didn't see this week though... Navid. And catch that I am putting this in the last sentence of my blog... because I almost forgot... thats how much it didn't affect anything....

Memorable Quotes

  • Patrick: Yes I was with another woman in Vegas and when I'm in L.A i'm with you. I travel a lot and I hate to be alone so I hired an escort service which I recall is how we met.
  • Raj: We didn't talk about our future cause we didn't think we had one.
  • Dixon: Are we a couple? Or did you just have sex with me in Vegas just to keep me away from drugs?
  • Liam: So what your saying is basically I just signed my life away?
    • Agent: Well at least it pays well.
  • Ade: You know when your famous they want you to live this fake life and put on a show.
  • Naomi: If I have to endure this game for one more minute I will bake a cake six stories high and jump off of it.
  • Marissa: But part of growing up is realizing how this world really works. I did what I had to do to win and now I'm going to do a lot of good for a lot of people including your friend.
  • Naomi: Oh my god you have a 6 thousand point gpa and you don't know how to flirt with a boy.
  • Stanley: You know brainy girls aren't really my type. However you are just what the doctor ordered.
  • Liam: Her job is to make sure I'm not having any fun.. Ever.
  • Ade: And when your an addict you say things you don't mean and feel things that aren't real. I mean he said some things to me too but it wasn't Dixon saying those things it was his addiction.
  • Naomi: On the outside obviously I'm incredibly hot and frankly out of your league. But on the inside im a horrible girlfriend. I'm selfish, I'm superficial, I'm vain. I put my nose into everybody's business. I will judge you, manipulate you. If you take away my hair and you take away my face this is what your left with. Trust me you don't want to be in a relationship with me.
  • Teddy: I dont know whats worse that or actually having the life you want and watching it get ripped away.
    • Liam: I guess they both suck.
  • Annie: When did life get so complicated?
    • Silver: About 5 minutes into what was suppose to be the best year of our lives.
  • Naomi: I missed you guys.
    • Silver: We live in your house...
  • Naomi: oh my this this is the most pathetic pity party ever. Seriously somebody cue the sad music bring out the chardonnay and lets turn 30 why don't we.
  • Silver: In Naomi's world there is no problem that won't be solved by flirting.
  • Agent: Stop whining about loosing your freedom. We all make sacrifices its called growing up.
  • Ade: It's real for me, we just don't know if its real for you yet.
  • Raj: I'm going to live!!!!

Ringer- Shut Up and Eat Your Bologna

"Why are you calling yourself Siobhan Martin?"

Watching this show gives me gray hair, I swear. I have never watched a show that leaves me so anxious and nervous I feel as if I am in the show myself.
Right from the beginning we are taken to a flashback six weeks ago. It happens to be the same night as the very first episode of Ringer where Bridget ran away from the hotel room with the stolen gun and fled to her sisters apartment in New York. The real story is that the cop that was suppose to be protecting her told her to run. He said if she stayed and testified against Macawi she would be dead. He planted the idea in her brain that she should go to her sisters and planted the gun in her purse. By the end of the episode we find out that the cop (who might or might not have actually been a real cop) was hired by Charlie, or should I say John. Gee, there is a lot of people with the fake identity Charlie on the CW this season don't you think?  John is working for Siobhan and everything has been set up from the start. Siobhan wanted to lure Bridget to her so she could execute her plan (and what that plan is I am still not quite sure), have Bridget assume her identity, and she led her straight into Charlie's arms. The only more twisted thing now could be that Siobhan is actually working with Macawi. That would be something else. What could Bridget have done to her sister that could have made her create this elaborate scheme?
Jemma is ALIVE. Oh thank god, although her screen time today was limited. All we know is that Charlie/ John has another apartment where he actually lives. Got to give props to Malcolm for his extraordinary spying skills. He picked up on little clues that led him to believe that Charlie didn't actually live in the apartment he was letting him stay in. He checked out his wallet while Charlie went to shower and found that it was pretty much all empty, except for some keys to a mailbox. He located that and got the address of his second apartment. Meanwhile Bridget went to Shiv's old therapist and actually enjoyed herself. Her motive was to find out why her sister was prescribed anti-depressants. She found her answer after she snuck into the therapists office during lunch, stole her information from the last session, and basically ruined any relationship Shiv had with the therapist. Close call! But this way we found out that Siobhan was suffering from paranoia. Was she really hearing voices or is this whole plan set up because she knew someone was out to kill her? Will we come full circle right back to the hit-man that tried to shoot her in the loft? Whatever happened to him?
Bridget followed the evidence to a church which was abandoned and for sale. Downstairs in the rectory was some sort of bar/ lounge type thing, which seemed quite odd to me but I get the sense that Siobhan was an odd person to begin with. Bridget spots Charlie there drinking and learns that his name is John. Comparing everything she found with everything Malcolm found she regrets giving Charlie the gun, or any information about her life. Lesson number one- don't trust ANYONE! As she sets up a meeting to meet up with Charlie and ask for the gun back, Malcolm breaks into his second apartment and snoops around. As he tries to break into the locked basement (where he would have found JEMMA!) Charlie catches on that Bridget has figured him out and dips from the coffee bar. Truthfully though, there is no logical way out of the story for Bridget. In order to clean this whole mess up she has to come clean. If she finds Jemma they are going to wonder why she's at Charlie's. Which leads to why she ever went to AA. Which leads to her being Bridget. Is Charlie going to run now or is he going to try and kill Bridget and Malcom?
On to happier moments in the episode, Bridget's relationship with Andrew is going strong. Too bad it is all based on a lie... If Andrew was to find any of this out he would never accept her and she would be crushed because like she admitted at therapy, she's falling in love with him. Just a thought though, does Bridget not make the correlation that at dinner a guy called her out for sleeping with him and calling herself Cora and now at therapy apparently Siobhan uses the name Cora as her decoy? Wouldn't you put two and two together and think maybe Siobhan is really alive? I mean the thought isn't that crazy considering everything thats going on and since she already assumed Charlie and Shiv knew each other maybe she should consider it! Meanwhile his obsessively-jealous assistant Olivia is on a mission of her own. She wants Jemma's sick father to sign over his share holdings to their company and the only way to do this is to persuade Henry. Andrew doesn't agree because of Henry's fragile condition so she goes behind his back and does it anyways. Meanwhile being her snoopy self she digs through Henry's phone after he goes to check on the kids and finds a picture of him and Siobhan that she will of course use as blackmail to ruin their finally happy relationship in the future. Everyone in this show is just so damn clever, twisted, and evil that it fascinates me. One week break until the next episode, where everything is about to blow up in everyone's face.... Lightly put.

Memorable Quotes

  • Andrew: You know I'd say your entitled to some payback. If you want to take scissors to her wardrobe i'll turn a blind eye.
  • Bridget: I'm calling Machado.
    • Cop: Don't. Look half the bureau is on Bottoways payroll. You testify against him tomorrow and your dead. You can't trust the feds.
    • B: And I can trust you?
    • C: I'm not asking you to trust me. I'm asking you to run. Now.
  • Malcolm: It's easy to believe there are no god people left but somebody proved me wrong.
  • Bridget: It's only a matter of time before they figure out I'm not Siobhan.
  • Malcom: You're pretending to be his dead wife how can there be any trust in there. I'm sorry but this prince charming fantasy you got going with Andrew was supposed to be temporary. This is not your life.
  • Siobhan/Bridget: Oh my god. I'm falling in love with Andrew... All over again.
  • Andrew: Would you stand with me?
    • Siobhan/Bridget: I'd stand with you.

Gossip Girl- The big sleep no more

"Because in the dark with his mask on he can be himself"

Not the most thrilling installment of Gossip Girl in my opinion. It lacked that umph and I guess the story lines are getting a little boring. I would love if they focused more on the main cast rather than on Diana and Charlie. But I must admit I love the idea of a theater that interacts with the audience. Mysterious and enjoyable.
To me Blair seemed forced this week. After they built her up as this mature woman who only enjoyed her high-school games occasionally they really contradicted that this weekend. Not only was she obsessing over Chuck, but she was acting very immaturely for someone who is suppose to become a mother and a Princess. If it wasn't for Dorota (who cracked me up the whole episode, especially in her spy gear) Blair would have never let this go, which means she never let Chuck go. She's just lying to herself and everyone around her and doing everything in her power to keep Chuck around in some shape or form. The tension between them was hot though and when they kissed I felt like everything had fallen into place. I loved an episode without Louie!
Charlie seems to be in a lot of trouble if anyone outs her, although personally I would make it out too seem as though Max was the crazy one making up stories and I would pretend not to know him. That way she would get rid of him from her life. It was interesting to watch this story unfold as Serena ran into Max who was looking for Ivy, when on the Upper East Side we know her as Charlie. And the mastermind behind this whole plan? Diana. She did this all for her benefit. As we found out she is working with Nate's grandfather to bring him "onto the right path" she is doing everything in her power to keep Nate and Serena on the NYSpectator and take down Gossip Girl. But why would Nate's grandfather care to about Gossip Girl? What connection does she have to him and to Bart Bass? I smell a rat. And Nate is so god damn naive I just want to hit that pretty head of his. Sure the first time a girl screws with your mind its fine, but come on Nate WAKE UP!

Other Thoughts
-Do you really think Chuck has changed? He was so cute when he was saving the ducky at the duck pond. Is it all an act?
- Dan really needs a story line. He rose to fame quickly and fell just as fast. And even after Rufus's pep-talk he still lied about being "on tour." Why?
-Who will Serena believe? Her awesome friend Charlie or Max- a stranger she just met?
- Are Blair and Serena friends anymore? At this point Serena looks like a self-centered biatch in my opinion. She doesn't care at all about her pregnant best friend.

Memorable Quotes

  • Gossip Girl: Good Morning Upper East Side... or is it? We hear a certain future royal has had more than one rude awakening this week.
  • Blair: When Chuck's in them their all nightmares.
    • Dorota: What he do?
    • B: Behave like a gentleman, which makes him even more chilly.
  • Dorota: Apology don't seem fake to me.
    • B: That's because English is your second language.
  • Nate: Is that what your calling it now? Charity?
  • Charlie: It seems if you want people to read you than you need people to read about you first.
  • Charlie: If you want more ask for it. And do us both a favor, ask her and not me.
  • Blair: Don't try to fool me with your puppy dog eyes.
  • Blair: What a lucky duck.
  • Gossip Girl: In drama there are many ways to unmask a villain. Sometimes you know who the bad guy is from the start. But most times, you find out they've been right in front of you all along.
  • Dorota: This not look like happy nursery decorations.
  • Serena: Really I had this whole soulmates reuniting thing in my head.
  • Max: When girls like you say lunch they really mean clothes?
  • Chuck: Maybe we're maturing too fast.
  • Blair: Even our Chuck Bass spotted map is broken. Not one blip. He's off the map.
  • GG: Seems the plays the thing tonight, but watch out players you might be the ones that get played.
  • Dorota: You really think pillows under covers trick me? You lumpier now.

The Vampire Diaries- Homecoming

“U know what never gets old? Revenge.”

This show is more intellectual then inception as the schemes are schemes within schemes. Nobody can be trusted and at this point, anyone can be dead in a heartbeat.
The episode starts off with Stefan calling Klaus to tell him Micheal is dead. Since his is still compelled to Klaus he cannot lie so everything he says must be true. For the plan to fully be put into motion Micheal offers to be staked. Elena must do this because the dagger used would kill any vampire right after they killed an original. This shows Micheals dedication to killing Klaus as he puts his trust into the three to bring him back to life. This information is enough to lure Klaus back to Mystic Falls. As everyone is getting ready for homecoming, because yes amongst all the craziness happening, they all still have time to attend homecomig, Klaus floods the gym and moves the whole party to Tyler’s house, yet this isn’t homecoming anymore… it’s a celebratory wake.
In order for the plan to be successful, the plan must be executed without error. There is no room for screw ups and nothing can be left to chance. Damon comes up with a plan of his own, that he does not Elena be a part of. Elena makes Rebekah believe that they are friends, and then stabs her in the back… Literally. One down, one to go. In order for this scheme to work they need to involve the least amount of people, and only to people that are truly commited can be trusted not to mess anything up. Although Rebekah helped them out, opened herself up to Elena, and lured  Klaus back just to drive a stake through his heart, her loyalty was still weary so she had to be silenced. Stefan also had to be silenced. His loyalty and sire to Klaus could pose as a problem because one wrong lie and the whole plan could be messed up. This isn’t to say that silencing Stefan couldn’t have been done in a less painful manner, but it is Micheal. He has no remorse for people.
But who are we to think that we can fool Klaus, a powerful hybrid who has been up to no good and running for 1000 years. He is always one step ahead of everybody and and he definitely knew they were up to something. He warns Tyler that all of his friends shouldn’t try anything crazy tonight because his party is armed with hundreds and thousands of loyal and sired hybrids, that will kill if anyone tries to harm him. Tyler not being able to help himself from doing what Klaus says stabs Caroline with vervain and makes Matt take her far away from the party to ensure her safety. He knew that if she found out her friends were scheming to take on Klaus she would have tried to help and risked her life. Klaus would have no problem killing her and Tyler wouldn’t be able to do anything to stop him.
Suddenly one of the hybrids goes to tell Klaus that he has a visitor by name of Micheal. Seperated by a clear door Klaus wont come out to face his father, and Micheal cannot enter the premises. He starts provoking Klaus to come face him and stop being a coward. Klaus tells him that he can watch his hybrids rip him to pieces but little does he know they are part vampire and have been compelled by Micheal. He even threatens to kill Elena and when Klaus calls his bluff he stabs her right in the back which leaves Klaus vulnerable- the perfect chance for Damon to drive the dagger through Klauses heart and close this chapter forever. As Elena, who we realize was Katerina the whole time gets up, Stefan runs and pushes Damon off of Klaus leaving him to kill Micheal and ruin the only weapon left to kill a hybrid. Holy Shit. At this point in the episode I was so shocked and frieghtened that I thought it was over for everybody. How the hell can they seriously get out of this one? Klaus won again. He always wins and he is going to want revenge on every single one of them.

But never fear, this is Vampire Diaries so of course there’s going to be tons of more schemes involved. Mad at the world Damon drinks his sorrow away wondering how the hell it all went wrong and why Stefan would screw this up. This moment between Elena and Damon would have been perfect for a kiss but of course the writers wont let that happen no matter how badly Elena wants it this time. They are interrupted by a phone call from Katerina who is on the run, as always. This time though she had an agenda of her own and she’s not alone. With Katherine you never know whose side her loyalty is on. Sometimes she sides with Damon, sometimes with Stefan, and sometimes she does her own goddamn thing, but no matter what, she is always there when they need her, and has no problem saving Elena’s life.
Why the plan went soo horribly wrong? Katerina posing as Elena ran and fed Stefan blood and pep talked him into stopping Damon from killing Klaus. Why? After she had a brief conversation with Klaus at the party he told her that if any of them even try to kill him he has insurance that the minute he dies, so will Damon. They have wanted to kill Klaus for 500 years, but this way they loose a friend and a brother. She needed Stefan to let his humanity through at least for a little and care enough to save his brother. I wonder if they plan on telling Damon this part of the story or are they going to let him sulk and feel like a complete and utter failure?  The show has really been focusing on this unbreakable bond of brother hood. No matter how much you hate your sibiling or how much they screw up, they are still your family and you still love them.
In the end we see that Stefan is putting his freedom to good use. He calls his good friend Klaus and tells him that there is nothing better then revenge, as Klaus realizes that the coffins with his family members have disappeared right along with Stefan and Katerina. Does Stefan not realize that by doing this he is jeopardizing Elena and Damons lives again? Who is in those coffins besides Elijah… they have so many? Is there yet another way to kill Klaus that none of us knew about? Does Stefan even care about Elena anymore or has he accepted that she is better off with Damon? She would have been crushed if anything happened to Damon. Can’t blame the girl, if they killed off Damon I would have probably stopped watching all together. I have to give it to the writers though; the plotlines in season three are bloody brilliant. They have me fooled and gripping the edge of my seat at every freaking minute.
 Other Thoughts
-Where was Alaric. For someone who prides himself on vampire hunting you think they would ask him for help. He would have enjoyed this.
-Did Jeremy go on vacation? We haven’t seen him for two episodes after he broke Bonnies heart, was an asshole about it and left.
-They really need to get Matt more involved with the show or just kick him to the curb.
-Now that Caroline and Tyler have broken up, will Tyler go completely off the rails and obey Klaus?
- Anyone planning on waking up Rebekah? She’s going to be pist as hell! Especially because she never got to go to that damn highschoool dance.

Memorable Quotes
-Stefan: Well don’t look at me. I’m just in charge of getting him back here.
-Damon: Cause vampires are usually so reliable.
-Stefan: I’m 162 years old and I’m going to a homecoming dance. I need better ties.
-Stefan: If I look at your track record at homecoming dances I’d say it’s pretty tragic.
-Caroline: Quit hanging out with Rebekah the evil blood slut.
-Tyler: If I’m sired to anybody its you.
-Rebekah: Embarrassing story, this is my first high school dance.
-Elena: I’m so sorry I cant leave anything to chance either.
-Damon: In the back. Harsh.
-Damon: I’m not judging you. Very Katherine of you.
-Elena: Not the way to make me feel better about myself
                  Damon.
-Damon: It was a compliment… Sort of.
-Tyler:  But I’m not throwing it Stefan. Im just doing what Klaus wants.
         Stefan: what do you mean?
Tyler: Its not a party. It’s a wake.
-      Caroline: Our sired friend Tyler thought it was okay for his master to throw a party.
-      Stefan: Family? You mean the people you cart around in caskets?
-      Klaus: Seems the homecoming queen is still among the living which means Rebekah isn’t here. Where is she?
-      Damon: You couldn’t just break his neck?
o  Well it certainly occurred to me.
-      Klaus: I compelled her to go to church and pray for your friends.
-      Damon: Heres my RSVP. Hybrid.
-      Damon: As a host, you should know these hybrids don’t make the best first impression.
-      Damon: Your not suppose to witchy migraine me.
o  Bonnie: Your not suppose to kill Tyler!!
o  D: He tried to bite me…
-      Micheal: You cant kill me.
o  Klaus: But it’ll make a hell of a party game.
-      Micheal: Who do you have other than those whose loyalty you forced? No one.
-      Micheal: Your impulse Niklaus has been and will be the one thing that keeps you from truly being great.
-      Damon: She ran for the hills like usual, and who could blame her.
-      Elena: We’ll survive this. We always survive. Trust me.
o  Damon: We’re never getting Stefan back you know that don’t you?
o  E: Then we’ll let him go ok? We’ll have to let him go.
-Katherine: Care enough to save Damon’s life cause I am going back to that party and I am seeing this plan through. Klaus will be killed and we’ll have our freedom but then Damon will be dead. Your brother will be dead Stefan unless you care enough to do something about it.
- Katherine: I wasn’t just trying to save Damon’s life Stefan. I was trying to save yours.
-Stefan: Come on Katherine, you don’t care about anyone but yourself.
-K: You and I both know that that’s not true. I loved you. I loved Damon too. Humanity is a vampire’s greatest weakness. No matter how easy it is to turn it off it keeps fighting its way back in. Sometimes I let it.
-Katherine: You had a good plan and that’s high praise coming from me.
-Stefan: I wonder Klaus, for someone whose been one step ahead for a thousand years, were you prepared for this?
