Revenge- Sacrifice

"RIP: Amanda Clarke"
With that kind of finale, of course Revenge is going to be on hiatus for a bit. While this episode took place mainly in one place, on the sea, there was a lot that had to go into it. We came full circle to that first episode with the "Amanda" as a sunken ship. A little cliche if you think about it since the real Amanda ended up in the water in a Titanic-esque goodbye as well. The episode, Sacrifice, couldn't be more perfectly titled. In order to get exactly what you want, you must sacrifice everything you love.

Firstly, there has never been more disgust felt on my part towards the Grayson's than on last nights episode. Of course, people do things to protect themselves and cover their own butts, but to throw people under the bus for no apparent reason is just beyond them. After killing Helen Crowley, they played it off as though she actually left Grayson manor and made it back home. Than Victoria planted the evidence on Amanda Clarke, with vengeance against the poor girl who took a play by play from Victoria's book in order to protect her family, by manipulating Conrad. The bitch had it coming Victoria??? No, I think you've had it coming and your time is long overdue.

Sure, Amanda should not be taking matters into her own hands, but rather asking Emily for help. But at this point the story delves much deeper for her as she has a child of her own and feels like her family is being threatened, which they are. Conrad wanted ownership of the stowaway, which Jack and Declan have fought so long to protect. They even stooped to letting the evil brother's take part ownership in order to salvage their fathers memory. In a way, all of this could have been avoided if they just let them take the stowaway, moved somewhere away from all the crazies and just lived a normal life with their newborn baby. But lets be realistic. So as the honeymooners sailed off on their honeymoon, Nate was hiding on the boat waiting for the perfect time to strike while they were at sea. And he did.

Well thankfully, Emily has a cunning eye and was able to spot him hiding away in the picture. Her and Nolan got their detective skills on to go save Jack and Amanda. While they were on the move, Jack and Amanda were fighting with Nate, whom was after the computer that Amanda had, which held all the evidence that could incriminate Conrad. Really, why he was doing this all for Conrad is beyond me. So he wanted to take over the stowaway. There have got to be easier ways of achieving this than holding people captive in the middle of the ocean.

Nevertheless,  Conrad and Victoria were throwing a gala for Conrad to announce that he's running for mayor. The initiative was after Victoria and Conrad to find out what happened to Crowley. See, just cause you get rid of one doesn't mean you get rid of them all. Victoria led them towards Amanda Clarke, which seems to be their next mission. Meanwhile, Padma and Aiden were working together to get ahead of the initiative and see if her father was still alive. Things didn't look to uplifting when she found out that he was most likely dead and she was their next target if she didn't get the right version of the program Carion from Nolan.

Well, long story short in a dramatic twist of events, Jack ended up getting shot. Amanda threw him on an inflated life boat so he was away from the danger while she stayed on the boat to battle Nate. When Emily and Nolan finally reached Jack he had lost a lot of blood and was unconcious. Since Emily's love for Jack is so selfless, she jumped on the inflatable life boat while Nolan took Jack back to shore to get him to a hospital. Meanwhile, Amanda ended up flooding the boat in an attempt to take over Nate. To her rescue came Emily, who basically kicked Nate's ass. "Who are you?" he asked? "You'll never know," she replied. Boo-yah. As they faught, they shot open a propane tank and in the last few seconds before jumping ship into the lifeboat Emily had set up, Amanda climbed to get her necklace and saw Nate switch on the lighter as the ship exploded. When Emily finally found Amanda in the water, she ended up dying in her arms after she asked Emily to take care of Jack and the baby for her.

This scene was so devastatingly sad. Although I am not an Amanda fan, the fact that these two had grown to be sisters. They were there for each other always. They switched lives and were basically dedicated to each other. And because the necklace Amanda went to get back wasn't from Jack, it was a necklace that Emily had given her. Although Emily loved Jack she let Amanda be with him and live her memory through Amanda. And now she just died in her arms. Just like that. It was interesting to see that despite her best efforts, Emily just couldn't control this. She couldn't do anything to help Amanda and now things are going to get a little bit more complicated for Emily. She of course, still has revenge that she needs to get on the Grayson's. Her need for this revenge will become even greater. Than her relationship with Aiden, that's already strained by her fake relationship with Daniel, will be compromised as she has promised to take care of Jack, whom she ultimately loves and would do anything for. And in the midst of everything, she is now on motherly duty. How can a girl even handle all of this?? I wonder if she ever stops to think that maybe all of this revenge is just not worth it. Technically, Amanda Clarke is dead. Thanks to the Grayson's who killed her father, they have now killed his only daughter, with basically no shame. The initiative will be disappointed to find out that they cannot unleash their wrath on her. Of course, the Grayson's wont be moved by any of this, but those around Emily will be off their game for quite some time. That's if Jack even does survive. In a weird set up, Emily looses her best friend, but gains back the love of her life. You can't have your cake and eat it too I guess.
