Last nights Gossip Girl was the return of many characters, including Bart Bass. Blair finally found herself as she juggled being loyal to Dan and being a good friend to Chuck. Chuck saved his father and Serena and Dan proved that they once again what it has to be a couple. Oh and Charlie Rhodes and Lola teamed up on a prostitution mission.
To put it blatantly, the Bart Bass story came out of nowhere and ended rather quickly. The plan that Chuck orchestrated seemed very simple. Much less complicated than what Bart was doing. Why a trio like Bart, Jack and Diana didn't think of it is beyond me. Plus the whole someone tried to kill me ordeal seemed a little desperate and the fact that Chuck would jump at the chance to save his father after everything he has put him through was also kind of shocking. What happened to the doubt if he really was his father??? But on the plus side, Chuck finally has his father back and he isn't alone. I wonder what Lily's reaction will be when she finds out her ex husband is really alive. Conveniently, her relationship with Rufus is on the rocks as well now, so who knows maybe she will rekindle her love with Bart. After all, Lily never stays with one person for too long.
As much as the writers want us to love Blair and Dan as a couple, I just don't. Sure, he is sweet and romantic and thoughtful, but they don't have that spark that Chuck and Blair do. As a couple, Serena and Dan work much better. Blair seems to be convinced that Serena has accepted that she and lonely boy are together and she has everyone convinced she's in love with lonely boy, but with the return of Gossip Girl herself, we might just learn otherwise. Maybe the reason she chose to help Chuck in his times of need, the reasons she was so hesitant about going on a whole year trip to Italy with Dan, and her inability to tell him 'I love you' is because she still really wants Chuck. Hopefully.
So I guess this was the last we were going to see of Diana. Amidst her many lies, Nate decided to spare her reputation and not out her to the editor of the New York Times. Seems like that relationship between him and Diana was real on some level. As for Lola, she really doesn't seem to have a story line. She is thrown into every scenario as some kind of decoy, which makes her the perfect partner for useless Nate. Even when they try to do something right they do more damage. What do you guys think the finale will focus on? Will the writers give us more than a conclusion of rekindled loves? The previews show Serena and Dan doing the naughty in the same way she did it with Nate (Blairs bf at the time) in season 1 and Blair admitting that she loves Chuck. Although I am all for these relationships, I would like to be served something with a little bit more, depth. The lack of storylines lately indicates that Gossip Girl is coming to an end, quickly.
